Eduventure: Research Series on Game-Based Learning
At the University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz, projects concerning game-based learning / educational games have been
performed under the name Eduventure (combination of education and the video-game genre
Adventure ).
Actions involve development and evaluation of adventure-games regarding acquisition of historical and cultural knowledge.
Single Projects
In this context, two different computergames had / have been designed:
- Eduventure(I) was developed and evaluated as a prototype in 2004/2005. The game involved the castle Marksburg during the 30 years war (around the year 1630). Scientific interest contained the use of AR and VR technology in situated, game-based learning contexts.
- Eduventure(II) is being developed since 2006. The game involves the Prussian fortress Ehrenbreistein during the German Revolution in 1848. Scientific interest cotaines design-oriented compatibility of claims implied by gamedesign and conditions of mediation / communication of transferable knowledge.
